Hiking is not only an unusual and multifaceted activity, it is also almost a slice of life philosophy in an age increasingly characterised by superficial entertainment, but longing for originality and naturalness.

By offering hiking, we would like to stimulate our guests’ enthusiasm in looking for adventure on foot for a change.

Nature of the trail area

The Naukluft Trail is characterised by a labyrinth of gorges and canyons that cut through the mountain. Most people follow the ancient, gently undulating, stony trails of herdsmen and zebras. The gorges and valleys are usually green, and water spurts forth at many sites.

In order to study this spectacular, practically uninhabited mountain landscape in more detail, the hiker can employ the services of a local guide, who know the Naukluft extremely well. One can choose amongst a range of hiking trails that are rated according to their degree of difficulty.

Proposed routes

The long-distance trail that traverses BüllsPort, Ababis and Remhoogte will only be ready for use in 2007, although some parts are already accessible for hikers.
